I had brief stints at teaching in two different schools during and after my post graduation. During this time, I discovered that I really enjoyed teaching and decided to pursue it as a full-time profession. |

Why learn in i-osmosis?
No two individuals in the world are exactly the same. Each person has his or her unique sets of difficulties and problem areas. i-osmosis offers one-to-one teaching, where individual problems are taken into consideration. Experience tells me that English is best learned in an English environment, through English communication. Language learned merely as another subject in the curriculum is reduced to a bundle of grammatical rules, and it’s tedious to learn. But learning a language through assimilation makes the learning process enjoyable and ensures optimum retention. That is exactly what i-osmosis does.
What is the key to improve one’s English writing skills?
The most effective way to improve one’s English writing skills is to keep writing in English. Use English as a means of communication wherever and whenever possible. Write letters, send e-mails, chat on the internet, keep a diary, jot down random thoughts, or even write down your favorite recipe! You will undoubtedly make mistakes, but you will also learn from your mistakes. As a teacher, my aim is to encourage learners to interact in English, explain their mistakes clearly, and thereby enable them to think and express themselves in correct English. |

I joined i-osmosis in late 2005, and since then I’ve taught English to a wide spectrum of EFL learners: high-school students, researchers, translators, school teachers, and homemakers. Why learn in i-osmosis?
The i-osmosis’ approach to teaching is practical and convenient for EFL learners because it does not focus purely on grammatical accuracy; instead, the focus is on effective communication. Learners can improve their proficiency in English through the gradual influence of interaction with instructors besides, of course, learning from highly detailed evaluations of essays; thus, learning by osmosis can be achieved.
What is the key to improve one’s English writing skills?
Skill in a language can only be improved by constant exposure to it, be it reading in the target language, listening to it, or writing in it. Continuous contact with a language breeds familiarity, thus automatically expanding the vocabulary. Learning a language by writing essays stimulates this vocabulary, and learners tend to make concerted efforts to express their ideas using this vocabulary. Over a period of time, what seemed like “grammar rules” at the beginning would have been internalized and would become the learners’ natural expressions. |

What is the key to improve one’s English writing skills?
The more you do something, the easier it gets; and learning English is no different. Keeping a daily journal where one can jot down just a few sentences or paragraphs a day is a good way to develop fluency in writing. |
