Learning English from a company in India sounds strange. Are the instructors of i-osmosis native English speakers? |
| |
Although not all Indians are native English speakers, the instructors in i-osmosis are. English to them is much more than the medium in which they were educated from childhood. It is a first language in which they think and communicate. They often have another first language – an Indian language such as Hindi, which makes them native bilinguals. Further, we have a couple of American instructors who complement the team’s skills with their high awareness of contemporary American English.
We have a three-stage selection process to recruit instructors, and the training program not only prepares them to evaluate essays in all our courses but also provides them with a solid foundation in EFL (English as a foreign language) teaching methodology as applicable to our service, such as the use of the communicative approach to maximize learning effectiveness. |

Where are your learners located? |
| |
Most of our learners are from Japan. When i-osmosis was born, our parent company, Cactus Communications, was already established as a leading provider of academic editing services in Japan. Therefore, we started by reaching out to EFL learners in Japan. If you are from Japan, you might be interested in our Japanese website (www.i-osmosis.jp). |

 |
How are the courses conducted? |
| |
Our courses are delivered through a learning management system called my i-osmosis (MIO): http://my.i-osmosis.jp/. It is based on Moodle, a widely used platform for learning management systems. MIO is easy to use, and it can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection. Each learner is given an account in MIO, through which he/she can submit assignments, download evaluations, and interact with the instructor. |
